“Nobel Prize Laureate Mario Molina dead at age 77. He played a pivotal role in the discovery of the Antartic Ozone Hole. He became the first Mexican-born citizen to receive a Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his role in elucidating the threat to the Earth's ozone Layer of chlorofluorocarbon gases.

The National Autonomous University of Mexico confirmed the news in its Twitter handle.
