Wilbert Torre is an independent journalist, frustrated trumpet player, retired marathon runner, chef apprentice, distracted father, and author of several books, chronicles, profiles and stories in anthologies and magazines including:  Etiqueta Negra, Gatopardo, Letras Libres, Esquire and GQ. Torre is the author of titles such as “Obama Latino, Todo por una Manzana” and “El Bombero que Nadie Llamó, for which he was granted the International Proceso Award in 2011. Torre was also selected as one of the New Chroniclers of the Indias (Nuevos Cronistas de Indias) by the Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano Foundation, created by author Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Torre is a U.S. correspondent for Etiqueta Negra magazine. He has spent his life between Merida, Mexico City, New York and Washington, D.C.
